Better than "esb"! - Return of the Jedi Reviews

This film is terribly underrated. So what, it has killer teddy bears? So what, it has dancing muppets singing "Lapti Nek!" (which really means Workin' Out). This film has great action sequences, a great light-sabre battle, and silent moments that outweigh those in Empire. Plus, Emperor Palpatine is GREAT! Rent the original edition, not the Special Edition or DVD, because the last two have horribly animated singers singing a song called JEDI ROCKS! Besides, the Dvd has Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker Episodes II, III) in it at the end! His evil stare and grin come with him! Shield you kids' eyes!

A great conclusion to a great series. - Return of the Jedi Reviews

This is probably the best climax for a movie I've ever seen. It kills Return of the King by a longshot. I have to say though, I had to give it an A instead of an A+ for a couple of reasons. 1. I find it hard to believe that the Empire could build a new Death Star in the short time between Empire Strikes Back and the start of this movie. 2. The acting was good, but the lightsaber duel at the end is supposed to be the ultimate lightsaber duel, but compared to some of the lightsaber duels in the Prequels, this one is definately second best. 3. The visuals aren't as stunning as the ones in Revenge of the Sith. Not at all. Even though they made some visuals better in recent re-releases, they still just aren't as good as the ones in the prequels. These are most of the reasons that brought this movie down. I did like the very end, though, with the celebration on all the different planets. The ewoks were branded into the storyline, which I liked. They rimind me much of the Gungans from The Phantom Menace. Plus, in the new DVD Trilogy set, when Luke looks at the ghosts of Obi-wan, yoda, and Anakin at the very end, look for a new surprise that will have you smiling and thinking of the prequels.

The republics best attack yet!!!! - Return of the Jedi Reviews

THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER. ITS GOT GREAT VISUALS FOR ITS TIME, STORY IS GREAT, ACTORS WERE AMAZING AT ACTING, GEOGRE LUCAS OUT DID HIMSELF. I WOULD GIVE THIS AN A+++, BUT I CAN'T. :( BEST MOVIE EVER TO BEV PUT IN THEATERS.

A fine finish to the trilogy - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Return of the Jedi is a fitting conclusion to the greatest trilogy in screen history. While some of the acting performances are over the top, the spirit of good over evil rings truer now then twenty years ago! This is my personal favorite of all the star wars movies,pre-quels included.

Jedi-simply the best - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Return of the Jedi is the best of the original STAR WARS trilogy, as well as the entire six movie series. The final chapter is played to perfection as we see a great lightsaber duel, death star battle scene, and both Luke and Anakin (Vader) fulfill their destines. A fitting end to one of the greatest series of all time!

Return of the jedi - Return of the Jedi Reviews

This is probably the most exciting in the trilogy (original 3). You kind of think that Darth Vader is going to kill Luke because Luke keeps saying he won't fight. The ewoks are pretty cool, and they are a big reason that the Rebels defeated the Imperial troops. The best parts of the movie are when Lando and the Rebels are outside the second Death Star. No dought that the battle between Luke and Vader is a great conclusion, especially when Vader kills the Emperor and turns away from the Dark Side. Great movie! If you haven't seen it, rent it. It's no waste of money!

The weakest of the original trilogy - Return of the Jedi Reviews

While this film was enjoyable to watch and had wonderful special effects, I personally consider it to be the weakest of the original trilogy and a herald of the more glaring flaws of the prequels. There are a few reasons for this: 1) The Ewoks, besides being too cutesy and an obvious and lazy way to appeal to young children, were also an unrealistic addition to the series. The idea of small teddy bear creatures defeating a battalion of highly-trained Storm Troopers was a little hard to believe. 2) Lucas' "fall from grace" was also present in the form of Boba Fett's demise. Instead of treating the character seriously, Lucas decided to once again pander to children by killing off the bounty hunter in a silly and comical way. 3) Another example of lazy writing is evident in Obi-Wan Kenobi's weak explanation as to why he did not reveal Darth Vader to be Luke Skywalker's father. There were several believable scenarios that Lucas could have used, and he didn't take any of them. "What I told you was true... from a certain point of view" turned an otherwise superb character into a patronizing old man. In conclusion, this film was a significant drop in quality from its predecessor, The Empire Strikes Back, largely resorting to overt humor and kiddie appeal. The problems in this movie, however, were minimal compared to the utter disaster that became The Phantom Menace. Although it's certainly not the most glowing entry in the Star Wars saga, Return of the Jedi closed the book on the original trilogy. Over the course of six years and three films, George Lucas created the most succesful film franchise of all time and a cultural phenominon that endures to this day.

An amazing end, to a great saga - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Over the times, we have seen movies that touched people, made ppl excited, or made people wanting for more. Well never had a movie done all these things...all at once...and done it in good way. In Return of the Jedi we confront more problems, and continue the adventure with the team we all love that consists of Luke, Leia, Chewie, Han, and the two hilarious droids. The Story is amazing in ROTJ. We have an ending that left me breatheless...and wanting for more...the final lightsabre duel and the evil of the emperor was just amazing. Also many other plot points are revealed that help make the movie amazing. The Acting in ROTJ, is no different than in the other movies, all the actors have not really improved and still try their hardest. Except for Darth Vader who i think is the most unimpersonable characer ever written in movie history. The Direction and Visuals are all amazing, for its time the visuals were oscar worthy...it looked great...and made you wanna be in one of those star destroyers...or on the beautiful planet of Endor. The way the events go was great aswell. You were always tense and waiting for what would happen next...especially near the end. I think that Star Wars is an amazing series...the best saga of all time...cuz of many reasons. Not only does the story and characters make you believe in them...and make you feel like you are part of this huge phonemenon, but they chaged the way we look at movies and get out of movies. And lets not forget they created some of the most memorable characters in time.

The end of a great saga - Return of the Jedi Reviews

This is the final movie in the Star Wars trilogy and it wraps up with perfection. Luke Skywalker battles his father Darth Vader in a final climatic showdown before the evil Emperor. The ending is always full of adventures happening all around, and no doubt that this series will come off as one the most groundbreaking action/sci adventures of all time.

D - for dumb humor - Wedding Crashers Reviews

I am simply let down everytime I get talked into going to an american made comedy. Who's rating these comedy movies... post pubescent boys and girls? I guess if you think bare breasted women, stupid cliches' and just plain dumb writing is funny... more power to you. I'll stick to the foreign comedies, until Hollywood can produce something more funny than this type of garbage.

Excellent finale to original star wars trilogy - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Return of the Jedi took the Stars Wars series to the next level in terms of emotion and intensity. A master-piece and ties with the original Star Wars as the best in the Star Wars series.

Lesser of the original trilogy - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Like Phantom Menace, it was bogged down by kiddy fare such as appearance of the Ewoks. All serious acting that went into the final duel were nearly brushed aside by the furry creatures. But it had great effects, action, and story as usual. Added bonus for lots of teenage guys was Leia in the infamous metal bikini.

Finish with a flourish - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Although not as good as A New Hope or The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi is still a memorable movie experience. Mark Hamil, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher work together wonderfully and fit together like pieces to a puzzle. In the grand finale to the original trilogy, the viewer is sucked in to the final attempt to restore freedom to the galaxy as the viewer witnesses a rescue from the clutches of a vile gangster, an excursion on a jungle world, and finally the final blow against the dreaded Empire and the insidious Death Star. In a series that packs more pop-culture than a Mo Rocca lecture, Return of the Jedi is a movie nobody can afford to miss.

Return or the jedi! - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Return of the Jedi is one of the best movies of all-time! It has great visuals like the first and second. The story comes to an end with the rebels beating the Empire in a close fight. Another connection is revealed between Luke and someone else. Luke fights Darth Vader and wins. He brings Vader back from the dark side back to the good side! If you have never seen this then see the first two first, but see this one also. The gift set would be a great Christmas present.

A great climax - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Most people say that this is the worst of the three original Star Wars movies-which is probably true. But this is still a great movie. George Lucas has such great talent as a director. Yes, Return of the Jedi is the worst of the original Star Wars films, but that doesn't make it bad.

The original trilogy is fantastic! - Return of the Jedi Reviews

I loved the original trilogy and this is a fantastic ending to an incredibly succesful franchise. There is more to the story and i personally find the new movies just as good as the old. I have liked every star wars movie i have seen. Great!

Return of the jedi - Return of the Jedi Reviews

THE RETURN OF THE JEDI is my most FAVORITE film out of the very first films, EPISODES IV and V. It's cool seeing BOBA FETT in the fight with LUKE SKYWALKER at the pit, but it sucks that HAN SOLO hit his jet pack. I really like the BATTLE OF ENDOR, it's fun watching this battle. My FAVORITE part of the BATTLE is the space fight. When LANDO goes in the DEATH STAR and destroyed it. THAT'S REALLY COOL!!!! LUKE SKYWALKER and DARTH VADERS lightsabor are better then in films IV and V. It's really fun watching this action packed EPISODE!!!!

My 2nd favorite star wars - Return of the Jedi Reviews

The best of the star wars trilogy - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Call me a stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerfherder if you will, but to me, ?Return of the Jedi? is the best of the Star Wars Trilogy. There are parts of it that are just too exciting and too mind-blowing to pass up. Once again, George Lucas was not the director, since he didn?t think he could bear to go back and risk the studio taking his movie away from him. For ?Return of the Jedi?, he was again the executive producer, but he also served as a screenwriter along with Lawrence Kasdan. Lucas? guidance of the film must have been what gave it all the juice. Irvin Kershner, the director of ?The Empire Strikes Back?, did not return for the director?s chair. Sitting in it this time was Richard Marquand, whose previous works included ?The Legacy? and ?The Eye of the Needle?. Would he be able to make the last Star Wars movie with as much greatness as the first two films? This was the big chance: the finale would either be phenomenal or disappointing. Last time, at the end of ?The Empire Strikes Back?, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) lost the lightsaber duel at Cloud City with Darth Vader (David Prowse; voiced by James Earl Jones), who revealed himself to be Luke?s father. Luke escaped before Vader could convince him to join the Dark Side, but his friend Han Solo (Harrison Ford), who had been captured and frozen by the rest of the Dark Alliance, wasn?t so lucky. It turned out that Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) was not a villain, but had no choice but to lure Han into the trap. Now, in ?Return of the Jedi?, our band of heroes have traveled back to Luke?s home planet Tatooine to rescue the frozen Han Solo from the palace of the large and vulgar alien gangster Jabba the Hut, who is Han?s captor after Han broke his promise to pay his debts to Jabba. Inside this palace are the funkiest creatures you will ever see, all coming from Jim Henson?s Creature Shop (my favorite of them all was the blue elephant who played the piano). The heroes split up in entering the palace: first the two droids C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) go in to ask Jabba if they can become servants, then Princess Leia (Carrie Fischer), who is disguised as a bounty hunter, goes in to sell to Jabba the wookie Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). Leia unfreezes Han, but then Jabba and his creature friends catch them both. Leia becomes Jabba?s ?exotic? prisoner, and then Luke finally enters the palace to do battle. There?s a trap in the floor, and Luke and a poor pig warrior are dropped in, where they are encountered by a hungry carnivorous alien monster. The pig warrior unfortunately becomes breakfast, but Luke, with his Jedi antics, leads the alien monster into death. Sadly, a muscular jailer comes in and looks in tears at his dead pet. Jabba is outraged, and then he orders Luke, Han and Chewbacca to be dropped into the Dune Sea and feasted by the wide ?mouth? down inside called the Sarlacc. Luckily, R2-D2 has a lightsaber inside him, which he shoots off to Luke, and another fight begins. It becomes quite a kill fest, with Han accidentally stabbing the jet pack of the famed bounty hunter Boba Fett (Jeremy Bulloch), causing Boba Fett to fly around like crazy and eventually fall into the mouth of the Sarlacc. Leia even snags her perfect chance to strangle Jabba the Hut to death. Finally, the team blows up the entire transport carrying creatures from the palace, and Lando Calrissian, who?s now a good guy, joins them as they make their escape. Luke and R2-D2 return to the Degobah System to meet up once again with Yoda (Frank Oz), the Jedi creature who instructed Luke last time. Yoda is in his dying stage, and Luke needs to ask him if Darth Vader really is his father. In his bed, Yoda says, ?Your father is.? After Yoda dies, the spirit of Ben Kenobi (Alec Guinness) appears, and when Luke talks with him, he learns something else, something as amazing as when he found out that Vader was his father. The rest of ?Return of the Jedi? takes place on the forest moon Endor, where the heroes meet the lovable, furry little warriors known as the Ewoks, which are like mini-Wookies who wield spears (the lead Ewok was supposed to be played by Kenny Baker, but when he got sick during the time when he was to perform, he was replaced by die-hard Star Wars fan Warwick Davis). As the Ewoks help the team defend the Rebel Base from attackers, Luke decides to leave on his own. Darth Vader and his master, the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid), are planning to convince Luke to join the Dark Side, since he would make a fine apprentice. The Dark Alliance is also building another Death Star; one much more powerful than the one that Luke destroyed in the first film, and it could spell certain doom for the galaxy if Luke doesn?t face his father and stop the Dark Side. It all adds up to the final showdown, in which Luke must fight with Vader and then resist the Emperor?s power before he corrupts him. All will determine the fate of the galaxy. Because of all of the creatures, ?Return of the Jedi? received mixed critical reactions. Many critics claimed that it?s weak on the human side and that the immense visual effects hid the actors. To that I do not agree. I believe the movie is perfect in all departments. Richard Marquand?s direction was stupendous, and we don?t hear from him anymore because he passed away at the end of the 1980?s. Weirdest of all in the movie is the scene where Luke finally takes off Darth Vader?s helmet to reveal the real Anakin Skywalker behind the mask, yet the pale bald man that we see is not David Prowse or James Earl Jones? but a guy named Sebastian Shaw! I bought the DVD 4-Disc Pack of the Star Wars movies, and all three movies are in it. What I don?t like is that they are all newly altered with added scenes; these are the ways George Lucas wanted the movies to be but couldn?t get them to be. Many of the scenes are great, but some of the others (especially the annoying new dance scene at Jabba?s palace) are not what we would want. I wish that the CDs could have given the option of playing the extended version OR the original version. Lucas refuses to release the original films on DVD, but I think he should, since they are the films we are used to. Right now, all we can do is rent the VHS versions and then tape some of the original cuts, so that we can know what they were like before. Lucas says that the original films are only 25% of what he wanted. People should have an option of whether they want to stick with that 25%. Me? I would want to stick with both. ?Return of the Jedi? is the greatest Star Wars movie, in my opinion. It is one of my all-time favorite movies, and it?s one of the very best times you?ll ever have watching science fiction in your life. Not a movie that a moviegoer should be without. Great finale, it is. See it, you must. That?s what Yoda would say. By Adam Zanzie (icebox482000)

Full circle - Return of the Jedi Reviews

When Lucas tries to do too much, like any of us, he fails. So we get really lucky that he handed over the directing duties this time around. Ian McDiarmid's Palpatine is so creepy it rivals the obvious fun he had with the role in 2005's REVENGE OF THE SITH. Easliy the third best of the entire saga (behind Episodes V and III).

The last of the trilogy - Return of the Jedi Reviews

"Return of the Jedi" is one of the greatest action/adventure, science/fiction fantasy movies of all time.Back in 1983 the film wrote history.Of course it rereleased that's way the visual effects were so dated.Director George Lucas and the other stars achieved an outstanding movie.

A great conclusion - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Return of the Jedi is a movie that can be divided into 2 parts. The first half is not so good, the second half is incredible. Half 1 is plot development and boring things. Half 2 is the conclusion of the Star Wars Trilogy. Not as good as the others, but great none the less.

Lucas had to make the stupid ewoks - Return of the Jedi Reviews

The ewoks were stupid. The ewoks fighting storm troopers are stupid. The ewoks having a gigantic party in the trees was stupid. The ewoks knocked the quality of this movie down by 1 grade.

The greatest saga in cinematic history - Return of the Jedi Reviews

The following is my response to my friend commenting on the shallowness of the characters in relation to the special effects. Here's my take: It may have been universal in themes, good v. evil being the most obvious. "Opposites attract" rings true in this saga as well. Han & Leia could not be further apart in background. Remember the scene (one of my favorite) when they were in the "hunk of junk" fixing the hyperspeed in the belly of the beast? (Well, they didn't know they were in a belly, but they found out soon enough.) He says to her, "I think you like me because I'm a scoundrel." He is a scoundrel, & she is a princess who is forced in situations that require people's attention to be diverted elsewhere other than on her. Thus, I cannot argue that the themes are universal, but are they shallow? I found the character development to be deep, deep enough that I was captured from the get go. Take the love affair between Han & Leia (again). You see them go from strangers to two very real people who are developing feelings for each other & don't know what to do with them. They first become quite apparent when Han is preparing to leave Hoth without her. She objects, but she never gives the real reason, but he knows it. She knows that he knows it, & he knows that she knows it. As it turns out, he never gets to leave without her. At that point, I think he would have found it hard to do so, anyway, even if he could have followed through with his original plans. I was drawn into their adventures together. When they kissed before he got sealed in that box, I was right there with them. Of course, there are other characters & other story lines stemming from the other characters, such as Luke, but I always was drawn to Han & Leia the most. There is nothing shallow about how they fell for each other over time. My childhood was not a happy one generally speaking. When I watched this film, I escaped into another world where I came alive. I became Leia, & I sure as hell felt the kisses they exchanged. When she saved him from Jabba the Hut, I had tears in my eyes when she said, "Someone who loves you." Then, of course, Jabba the Hut captures her & makes her wear that beautiful bikini on her then-awesome body. Of course, the music scores & the special effects definitely add to the movie's greatness. I agree that it would not have been the same if the special effects had not been so awesome. I simply cannot understand why shallow would be used in any sense of the word to describe this film, the one that carried me away with it "a long, long time ago."

Not as good as the first 2. - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Not as good as the first 2, but still an outstanding movie. It is still one of my favorite movies of all-time. I have both the special edition and original versions of all three movies.

A true grand finale. - Return of the Jedi Reviews

In this grand finale, George Lucas is still no where to be found. The third director at the helm is Richard Marquand (JAGGED EDGE). Return of the Jedi finally unveils Luke Skywalker's past and the supposed demise of the Empire (mostly the novel and comic series showed that). Return of the Jedi still has some thought-provoking sequences like the second but not as effective and the battle scenes have been turned up a notch.

My favorite star warz movie! - Return of the Jedi Reviews

GJ George Lucas, this one was very Good! Great FX! My favorite part was the SHIP/LAND/LIGHT SABER BATTLE! It kicked JABA @$$! It's Worth it! SEE IT!

Action packed finale! - Return of the Jedi Reviews

I love the way this trilogy is done. All of the story is laid out in the first two installments so that this film can wrap everything up with non-stop action and excitement! How did Lucas make the Ewokes cool? I'm not sure, but he did! This is a great movie and Star Wars is a Great Trilogy!

Good movie, but could have been better!! - Return of the Jedi Reviews

I remember going to this movie when I was 8 years old and after the movie thinking "is this it?". There were really no suprises that mattered in this movie. Everything went sort of by plan. Still this is a good movie and one of my favorites.

My favorite of the original three - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Return of the Jedi in my opinion is my favorite of the three original Star Wars films. There is a satisfying sense of completion, and I think the biggest and most intense battle were saved for this film.

The empire falls.... - Return of the Jedi Reviews

So it had finally come to be ? the final chapter of an epic story. The attention span of a movie audience has always been a limiting factor for the movie industry. When taken into consideration with the time and cost constraints that influence audience attendance at the movie theatre, we can well appreciate the fact that the series concept well accepted for television, is not considered bankable for the movies. A potential investment in the ?continuing adventures of??' by production companies would result in the application of financial prudence, meaning that the preference would rather be to concentrate on one story and if box office success warranted it, the production of a sequel to take advantage of a potential cash ? cow. This is still a solid norm today, although more risks are being taken in stories like ?Star Wars' Good stories will always attract audiences to the theatre, but to bring them back for another chapter, it will have to be special. The principle of high concept would certainly have more relevance here. Of prime importance would be the unique challenge of creating story flow throughout the chapters with each setting the platform for the next. Keeping audience attention throughout the chapters is necessary in order to inspire audiences to return and follow the continuing adventures of their heroes. ?Star Wars' is one of those few special stories that can meet all these challenging requirements. It introduces new characters throughout the chapters which created enough interest for the audience. Each chapter ended tantalisingly thus giving impetus to the next chapter. Stories involving mystical worlds with wizards, princesses and knights duelling always seem to captivate audiences thus making them particularly favourable for the series format. This is also evident with ?Lord Of The Rings'. Lucas's unique adaptation of ancient worlds to that of the future has firmly claimed an established place in cinematic history. The third chapter offers much in the way of strengths, but unfortunately also in the way of weaknesses. As a result, it does pale in comparison to ?The Empire Strikes Back', but it still falls short of disappointing. Lucas had gone much further in trying to delight the younger members of the audience. There may be method here to the effect that being the final act, it should act on a happy note. It may also be that feeling freer to apply the child within him due to the mass audience acceptance of previous characters, Lucas added more comic characters. Even if we consider the first point to be correct, and I personally feel that it is the second, the story has been weighed down with comic characters, which may annoy the older audience. These characters take up much screen time in the third chapter and it began to take on a pantomime ? like style. This undermined the battle between good and evil as the threat of the Dark Side seemed to take a back seat to these characters. If it were not for the greater role that the Emperor played in this chapter, it would have been disappointing. The Emperor is a sublime manifestation of the Dark Side. He absolutely oozes dark menace which serves to accentuate his great power. The eyes beneath his cloak projected ominous intent. Even his surroundings mirrored the evil that he is. His window is in the shape of an unshapely spider web symbolising the disorder and chaos of the Dark Side and hideous design also indicated to us that we were now in the presence of evil. The room is devoid of ornaments or furniture making him appear more purposeful in his evil intent. He does not reminisce or luxuriate ? he exists only to dominate and rule at all costs. His priests have the appearance of demonic minders who submissively attend to their masters needs. The Emperor is purposeful in motion ? confident in who he is and the outcome of his fiendish plan which is unfolding in the presence of his adversary. The stand ? off between the Emperor and Skywalker did much to increase the perception of the Emperor's power. He seemed to be in total control and was getting the necessary reactions from Skywalker. It is these scenes which rescue the movie and keep it in line, not only with the box ? office success of the previous chapters, but also as a story. It gave the continuity to the chapter that was necessary due to the excess inclusion of comical characters. It did not address the balance entirely, but served to anchor the storyline. The Emperor was a character which served to draw on the line of evil characters such as the Bounty Hunter and of course, Vader. The balance of characters between the good and the bad side was generally very good. But for me, it was the Emperor that tipped the balance of memorable characters in favour of the baddies which already benefited from strong audience appeal due to characters like Vader. This is indicative of the fact that stories such as these require immense characters as opponents for our heroes. This creates a greater obstacle to overcome thus maintaining audience attention as they attempt to conquer an insurmountable force. Audiences also enjoy these characters since they solve their problems ruthlessly and with impunity. It may be costly to us in reality, but we can fantasise about it. We imagine the face of ?Star Wars' and it is not Skywalker. The comical characters had their place in the movie, but they were greatly over ? utilised. Some of them were silly, especially at Jabba the Hut's cave. The Special Edition only served to exasperate the matter. Alien's continually belching was a joke that was replayed as if we would never tire from the novelty. If their comical nature and screen time had been toned down, they would have strengthened the movie rather than weakened it. A sound balance between the comic and seriousness of these characters was struck in the previous chapters. It was a pity the same was not applied here. Notwithstanding the above criticism, ?Return Of The Jedi' is an entertaining movie with a satisfying conclusion. The assault on the imagination launched by the story tapered a bit here. but it remained to be a movie far above the average. The final chapter had despite it's weaknesses, given us a movie which was still one of the best at the time. A traditional story had been adapted and as a consequence of this adaptation, cutting ? edge technology not only needed to be used, but had to be upgraded. Lucas carried this application through to all future projects involving ?Star Wars' and although their impact has, and never will be the same, we will continue to look forward to the continuing story of ?Star Wars'. If you like this movie, I also recommend: Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode IV, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode III, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Return of the jedi - Return of the Jedi Reviews

Return is my favorite, out of the three original trilogy. In this one the visuals are so and a lot more realistic. I just could not belive that Roger Ebert said that Return is his least favorite!? But, who cares! I thought Return was a lot more epic and a lot more powerfull than the first two movies. One that I thought that was annoying was the ewoks! But, if you think they are annoying, check out Jar,Jar Binks! now he is annoying. Out of five, it's a 5.

Star wars: an amazing story, an amazing trilogy - Return of the Jedi Reviews

"Star Wars" is one of the most popular science fiction trilogies of all time, but I also believe that it is an amazing story that is told remarkably by George Lucas and has an incredible score done by John Williams. True, I grew up with George Lucas' definitive trilogy and I love it, but I recently realized just how good it is and the value it holds. "Return of The Jedi" closes off the series with the most amazing ending. Even listening to the soundtrack deeply affects me! My favorite part of the movie is when the Emperor is electrocuting Luke to death with his powerful force lightning. Darth Vader is standing on the side watching as his son is being executed. Even though his face is covered by his black mask, you can see the agony in his eyes as Luke screams and begs his father to help him. The lightning reflects off Darth Vader's mask as he looks back and forth, to Luke, to the Emperor. A great moral battle is going on within him. Then, finally, he turns to the Emperor, his master, and picks him up with inhuman strength. The force theme rings out, a symbol for the light side of the force triumphing over the dark side. Then, Darth Vader hurls the Emperor over the rail, sending him plummeting down the bottomless pit to his death. Good has won the battle against evil. The love Luke has for his father brought him back from the dark side and restored him to his good self. This movie is truly amazing, and is far worthy to be the closing chapter of this great and powerful trilogy.

A fantastic science-fiction adventure - Return of the Jedi Reviews

I believe that this is the first movie review I have posted where I have nothing major to say about the flaws in a movie. The only thing wrong in this movie is that some of the alien dialog is not subtitled, but I believe that was intentional. The entire cast is fantastic and are very believable in their roles. None of the cast, including the minor cast members, feel uncomfortable with their dialog. The visual special effects is fantastic. After 20 years, the visual effects are still incredible and believeable. After all these years, the visual effects are still some of the best in motion picture history. The make-up is incredible. There are rarely any aliens that look like people in costumes. Those that don't work well are noticable, but they are mainly in the background and you won't notice them if you are not looking at them. Overall, this is one of the best science fiction movies of all time. It is a "must have" for any sci-fi fan's video/DVD collection and a "must see" for any one who loves a fantastic adventure movie.
