In this grand finale, George Lucas is still no where to be found. The third director at the helm is Richard Marquand (JAGGED EDGE). Return of the Jedi finally unveils Luke Skywalker's past and the supposed demise of the Empire (mostly the novel and comic series showed that). Return of the Jedi still has some thought-provoking sequences like the second but not as effective and the battle scenes have been turned up a notch.
